WHOLE-HOME SURGE PROTECTION
Keep your Devices Safe with Home Surge Protection Systems
Digital devices have rapidly infiltrated and overtaken our daily lives. Now it’s almost impossible to stay current without the battery of electrically powered tools and devices we use on a daily basis. Smart thermostats regulate the temperature in our homes. Computers are as essential as a quality pocket-knife or multi-tool.
For many of us, we rely on simple power strips to power all our devices from a few key outlets. Unfortunately, these strips have gained the “surge protector” misnomer. Worse still, many of our more sensitive devices are plugged directly into a wall outlet. This leaves many of our devices vulnerable to dangerous spikes and surges from the electrical grid. You could purchase surge protectors and power supplies for every outlet, or you could call Dynamic Electricians and have us install a whole-home surge protection system.
Whole-Home Surge Protectors
Service outages, load increases, and power spikes are more prevalent than you realize. They’re difficult and, in some cases, impossible to predict. A single powerful surge can devastate small-scale electrical devices, leading to expensive replacement costs. A surge protector between the transmission line and your circuit panel is an excellent way to prevent this from happening.
When the electrical grid shuts down and the power is out, you may feel like your devices are safe. After all, without power, surges are not an issue correct? Unfortunately, when a system becomes active, the initial inrush current of an electrical load more powerful than regular operation. Sometimes, when that electrical load is too great, or when a heavy power load is added to a system, an electrical surge can course through the entire electrical grid, risking damage to some components.
Of course, there are more obvious sources of surges. Electrical storms are a common source, though many already recognize the need to deactivate and unplug electrical devices during thunderstorms. So you could run around the house during every electrical storm or power outage, or you could simply install a surge protector at the source, and protect every device at once.
